DuC at the MSSA Online League, Leg 2 (6 Apr – 19 May 09)

Post by NeoN on Tue Apr 14, 2009 10:58 am

This tourney is run over five weeks, using the modifided Swiss System - sorta like Round Robin but only five games in total, and your opponents get chosen depending on who wins/loses.

Here's a link to the roster of teams and the current match-ups... --> Link <--
(Select League: DotA, Leg: Nationals)

---------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------

Game 1 (DuC vs tX - Team A)

Game Info... --> Link <--

Comment:
Eish, this one was rough. tX opted for a darn lane-block strat. >_< With axe planting his ass btwn the 1st and 2nd bot sent towers. Seeing as this strat works very effectively when done by the Scourge it already set the wrong mood in the DuC camp. :/ Sigh, I really should have gone to gang them. :/ That was me playing kak, soz team. Didn't want Death to farm up unhindered.

With both Necro and Axe being able to kill my Pitlord np with their ulti's, felt like a nightmare game. >_<

Demon was nowhere with his blink, which wasn't surprising as we died sooo~ many times. X_x

In gangs, abbadon was uber irritating, having to stop attacking him cause of his ulti - was a great time-waster as well as gave axe time get into place with his blink.

Very wp tX!

Spoiler:
Winner: tX - Team A

Hmmm... I blame myself for this lose, should have tried keeping axe in check early-game. Legend was saying the loss wasn't too bad but personally it felt like an incredibly kak game. :/

Game 2 (DuC vs kknP)

kknP have pulled out of the tourney as their players are too busy. :/

------------------------------------------------

Game 3 (DuC vs Wits A)

Wits A couldn't make the game so we win by -ff, again. This failz. :/

------------------------------------------------

Game 4 (DuC vs SynCidy)

Game info... --> Link <--

Lanes...
Sent = DuC || Scourge = SynCidy
Top: Tree (Legend) / Lion (shau) || Naix (Raliator) / potm (rhno)
Mid: necro (Demon) || DP (Vetoll)
Bot: Levi (Edgey) / Pitlord (NeoN) || Scorp (cIDIc) / puck (alcardu)

Comment:
This is the "re", after Alcardu picked Alchemist by mistake-typing during drafting (was a lil worried there for a sec >_< Razz).

I knew SynCidy had some imba's but once the game started filling up I was like... X_x SO they definitely had the intimidating factor going for them. Razz

DuC having randomly chosen to draft 2nd, they managed to snatch DP before us in their 1st pick - kak luck. :/

Half an hour in, Edge drops from a blue screen, and with no1 saving we opted to carry on. :/

Classic Raliator naix saw him free-farming most of early-mid game while the rest of his teamies held us off.

Didn't help that I kept missing with my hold, the cast range felt so short and my dude too slow - only had regular bootz as I was rushing a guinsoo. :/

Spoke to Edge this morning, he said he was very close to getting blink before he dropped.

rhno played a mean potm, with some imba gangs. Only saw his monster item-build at the end of the game... O_o

Not sure what happenend to Legend, but he did have potm in the beginning. Rolling Eyes Shau wasn't happy being Lion either. I see he built a 2x buckler... by mistake. >_< fail! lol

They were always outfarming us, but it would've been interesting if we had our initiator levi.

...ggwp...

Spoiler:
Winner: SynCidy

Game 5 (DuC vs PBHS1)

Game info... --> Link <--

Lanes:
Sent = DuC || Scourge = Pretoria Boyz High School
Top: Pitlord (NeoN) || SF (y0_y0) / phantom lancer (D-mEnTeD)
Mid: Necro (demon) || potm (arabiandominato)
Bot: cw (Legend) / Zuez (Shau) || luna (Salad_Fingers) / Pudge (iron_maiden)
Sent Bush: Enigma (Edge) || --

Comment:
We played these guyz at AfriCon last year (confirmed by them), but I can't seem to connect the nicks - they might have been smurfing back than. Rolling Eyes

------

Bot lane totally dominated, with Edge constantly ganging.

I had a hard time farming up top with SF denying like crazy - but he focused way more on denying than getting his cs up. Rolling Eyes Also gotta mention that he hardly used razes which just baffled me. Oo

The Pretoria Boyz did gang top a few times, but they were all fail gangs. :/ Having chosen both potm and Pudge, I was expecting some imba hookz/arrows but was greatly disappointed - even in surprise gangs the hook would shoot right past me. X_x

Mid-game, SF left top to help mid/bot leaving pl to free-farm. I stayed top to spam my firestorm - which got me killed once as I was too deep and two of his spirit lances had me KO'd as I tried pulling back.

With Edge rushing a blink-stick, bot lane was pushed very hard - as zuez/enigma/cw killed any heroes that came in their way. With Demon's ts not working, he was hardly involved in any of the team-battles. >_< I eventually went to help out for the 2nd/3rd tower/rax bot lane... I think Demon was still mid at this time. >_<

We than proceeded to push mid all the way.

Having greatly out-leveled luna, her ulti didn't do much mid-late game and there was only so much a pl with threads/vlads could do. :/

Edge informed them of the AGASA tournies after the game, hopefully they'll enter some of those and get some sweet practice in.

Sigh, only noticed now that during all the commotion of sorting out Demon's ts, I forgot to wish PHBS "glhf" - and in my book, that's just not cool :/

Anyway, hoping these guyz will stick together and practice more - looking forward to the next meet. ^_^

Spoiler:
Winner: DuC

With the final games of the tourney wrapped up, the results should be out very soon. Will edit them in when they are updated on the MSSA site.

yeah that axe creep blocking strat is kak anoying. You have to counter it in your picks. Jugga + CM will do the job

well i think the jugga is a the more crucial hero, so CM could be substituded by rhasta/lion/lina. I think even lich could work since he can eat one of the creeps and slow with his ice.
